Avocados, Mangoes, Vegetables and Flowers

Fuerte Variety

Fuerte avocados have a pronounced pear shape. Their skin is thin, glossy, green and slightly textured. Their skin is also relatively loose, making Fuertes easy to peel. They’re available in Kenya through out the year.

Hass Variety

Hass avocados are a smaller variety and are more oval in shape compared to Fuerte. Their skin is coarsely textured, and they change color with ripening, turning from green to purplish-black. In  Kenya they’re available  almost all year-round, except  in December and January.

Hass avocado is a large-sized  fruit weighing 200-300 grams. When ripe the skin becomes a dark purplish-black and yields to gentle pressure. When ready to serve, it becomes white-green in the middle part of the inner fruit.

Mangoes

Mango is known as the “king of fruits” throughout the world. The name “mango” is derived from the Tamil word “mangkay” or “man-gay.” Over the years, the demand for mangoes arising from the quest for better health amongst Europeans and the non-alcoholic dietary of Middle East and Arab nationals, has been on the increase

Mango is highly medicinal. In fact, every part of the mango is beneficial and has been utilized in folk remedies in some form or another. Whether the bark, leaves, skin or pit; all have been concocted into various types of treatments or preventatives down through the centuries
